Originally, from Jalapão, one of the most beautiful regions in Brazil, golden grass, found throughout the Brazilian Cerrado, is a natural raw material that is very popular worldwide in the manufacture of handmade products, ranging from vases, hats, to haute couture fashion items like clothes and jewellery.

Due to its golden, bright colour and with a unique finish, the products derived from this material have won the world with a certain prominence, as it is a perfect combination of an extremely natural product, which is handled by skilled hands, becomes a final product full of history, culture and meaning. Products, derived from golden grass, can be found all over the world today, due to the incentive that local communities in Brazil have been gaining to export their art.

The products made with golden grass have a fine finish, involving natural and resistant fibers to give a long life to these materials. Currently, the production of these materials is a source of income for hundreds of families from different regions of Brazil.

In addition to being an extremely versatile raw material, it can be transformed from decorative products to beautiful earrings and bracelets. This grass is a material that stands out for its look and its cultural strength. It is a true work of art from the Brazilian Cerrado.

There is a regulation for the harvesting of golden grass that prohibits the leaving of “in natura” material from the region. The law ends up encouraging the production of pieces of this material by the local community, in line with the concept of environmental, economic and social sustainability. As a result, the Naturatins Environmental Inspection, providing a license and instructions for collection, selective planting, and the way to sow the field to continue the reproduction of the species, supports these communities. According to this government body, today around 1,500 artisans are qualified to work with golden grass. Therefore, everyone wins the local community, the environment and society in general.
